Hi All
Finished the DSP-10 last weekend and now am making contacts.
Here is what is possible with the DSP-10 in a weak signal mode - PUA 43
Two nights ago I completed a contact with Bob, W7PUA using PUA 43 mode. I
live on a hilltop 1100 feet elevation (600feet above the valley floor )and
can effectively see Bobs antennas line of sight. He lives 42.9 miles
away. (The distance was computed with WinGrid using
our latitude/longitude's. ) The antenna is a 10 element CrunchCraft. (
spell it that way on purpose) and Bob has 4 stacked antennas.
POWER LEVEL On the W7CQ end was turned down to 30 nanowatts. (.03
milliwatts) Measured with a HP 432B power meter, this computes to, if I
figure it right, is about 1,430,000,000 miles per watt.
ONE BILLION FOUR HUNDRED THIRTY MILLION MILES PER WATT. I guess you can
call that weak signal mode for sure.
My DSP-10 I just finished, puts out 11.25 mw, full power bearfoot at
a DSP-10 setting of Xmit Pwr - 100. The Xmit Pwr was set at 40 for this
contact. This is 60 db down from the 11.2 mw. full power setting. I have
a Brickette amp that will run 6 watts as an afterburner but after you read
the above paragraph, I guess I don't need it.
Everybody keep soldering It is worth it.
Thanks Bob for all the hard design work. IT SURE WORKS!!!!!
