That would be an interesting project. The debugger on the 2191 Kit is light
years ahead of the 2181. The main differences are in the codec and the
speed of the DSP itself. There are some code gotcha's when porting from 8x
to 9x, but it shouldn't be too bad. I can probably get you a schematic for
the 2181 if no one else here has it handy.
I would actually started a port to the 2191 and have made some modifications
to my 2191 ez-kit I added an LTC1386 level converter. The 2191 has a 16550
compatible hardware uart so the code used on the 2181 for serial
communication is reduced to a couple of lines of code. If your interested
in doing this, it might keep me motivated to work with someone on the
project.
