Hi Matt - Looks Great!!
I've been away and am getting caught up on things. I'm glad to see you
taking this on.
A couple of comments - The 9600/19200 Hz problem is that there is so much
stuff going on in the DSP/Serial port at those rates that a signal can be
picked up by the 10 to 20 KHz IF. This can be avoided by careful choice of
I-F frequency and with a resolution of 5 Khz in the synthesizer it is
possible to never have 9600 or 19200 inside the I-F passband.
You building in a loader for the DSP is great. One thought is that if you
allow for a delay (a few tenths of a second) after the $OK or $$$ wake up,
it will be compatible with the ROMable version of the DSP program that is
finished and almost available. That version of the DSP comes up running the
DSP-10 (no music, etc.) But the DSP-10 program also responds to $OK or $$$
and goes back to what is almost the original monitor. Unfortunately,
reinitialization of the CODEC is not fast and any loading that comes without
a delay is missed.
I suppose if you always load the DSP program at startup it need not have any
version of the DSP program in the EPROM! I could fix up such a thing, with
it's biggest feature being no music :-) Then no delay would be needed.
There should not be any problem below 0X3800 and I'm sure my version doesn't
have any problems.
Anyway, thanks for the effort and have fun!
