Another thing to bear in mind is the PCB used in the EZ-KIT is four layer.
The PCB cost for small runs (say 100 or so) would be ~US$16.00 my cheapest
guess.
The CODEC on the EZ-KIT though discontinued, is manufacturered by a company
licensed by ADI to produce it. Thus the reason you still see it on present
day EZ-KITs.
Keep in mind that the EZ-KIT at $149.00 (give or take) is a bargin at any
price! And please make a good impression on ADI so that we can continue
learning with their DSPs.
No, I do not have any connection, own stock, or otherwise have any personal
interest in ADI other than my wish is amateur experimenters around the world
get a good deal on parts and evaluation kits. Evaluation kits along with
TAPR kits are what enable us to experiment. Otherwise we'd be behind the
eight ball. We can't make kit runs of 100 or so economical enough for most
hams. Trust me, I've designed a number of kits.
