Actually, all of us accepted the Terms & Conditions
(T&C's)
when we placed web orders. One of the T&C's does
deal

with pricing corrections, so one would have a difficult time

proving it was fraud.

While some would argue this, I believe sales on the web

are subject to the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code).
Long story short - if they correct their price (while hiding

behind the T&C's) you have the right to cancel the order
or accept the new price.

Is it bad business? Yes.
Unfortunately, these days it happens all the time.

I've been involved in materials management and purchasing

for most of my career and unfortunately this is becoming

more and more commonplace in this day of Enron-esque

corporate business practices.

I suspect the other part of the problem is that while e-business

is wonderfully fast and efficient, the boys & girls who
write these systems lack a sense of customer service.
For example, in this instance a properly programmed

system should/could have sent us an email noting the

price {quot}change{quot} and asking us if we wanted to continue
with the order or cancel it.

What's worse IMHO, is that the higher price tag will be a

barrier to many would be ham kit builders, especially the

youngsters.

I've been a ham since the 60's, started out with a

Heath VTVM and then an Allied Radio Knight Kit R-100A

receiver kit at the age of 13. The fascination of
building

something and watching it work when you first turn it on

still intrigues me after almost 40 years.

I want to thank Bob Larkin for his great project.
(and the rest of you for letting me ramble on a bit)
