[DSP-10] Front panel LEDs & jack grounding

I've noticed some DSP-10 designs that place the power and TX LEDs on the
front panel of the box instead of on the circuit board. I would like to
do this with my project, but it brings up a couple issues:

1) What is the best way of mounting the LEDs to the front panel (glue,
glue and circuit board, screws and circuit board?)?

2) I'm assuming that I just need to solder terminal connectors onto the
main board in place of the LEDs and run matching plugs on 24g hookup
wire between the LEDs and the main board, similar to the way the other
jacks are connected. Is this correct?

3) Do I need to add a toroid core to the hookup wire?

4) Are there any significant current issues with this setup; or
similarly, are there any issues with replacing the amber LED with a
green one?

Also, I noticed that most of the jacks have one of the pins connected
to ground. I assume that means connecting that pin to the chassis via a
short piece of hookup wire?

Thank you all again for all your help.
