Hi Jess,

I also have been thinking about buying one, there are times where this
would come in very handy at work. Our product has an analog front end of
a 128 (identical) receive and transmit channels; a small hot air gun would be
*real nice* if it could reflow small smt's quickly for changing... I have been
too busy to look into the different wares, Metcal (sp?) makes something.
I am curious what exactly you have been looking at Jess. If you can afford
a used microscope that would be a great edition to one's work bench.
Surface mount keeps dropping in size, a good pair of optics is easy on
one's eyes. I have the adjustable magnification set basicly at the bottom
of the range, X5 to X7 is usually where mine is set at but I have to check.
I can give you particulars on the specific models, "powers" and lighting
we use... You don't need much magnification but you need even
illumination which is aimed correctly. Bidding on used microscopes is
heavy on Ebay. I wish I owned the LEICA Stereozoom that's on my
work bench. ;-) 73's es Cul.
