[Drake] Drake UV-3

I've seen quite a few of these radios over the years (and still own/use a
few). Knowing the working condition is a VERY big "plus" when
establishing value......not too hard to do, and well worth the effort. A couple
hours on the workbench is time well worth spending. The last several
"3-banders" I saw sold at Dayton the past  2-3 years brought around $350-$450 each;
these were in good physical shape (all the right hardware, not all banged
up, and working properly). Having "extras" (like an "original" mike,
either plain or with DTMF encoder, the remote kit, matching power supply,
service manual, board extender kit, a synthesized after-market CTCSS encoder,
etc.) will add more dollars to this amount. The encoder is important if the
potential buyer is to use the radio on his local repeaters, as most are
tone-access these days. Drake wisely put a multi-pin connector on the bottom
of the radio, to accept such a device. I see very few "single-banders"
(and I'm pretty sure Drake never sold any for just 220 or 440; all of these
were like the one U have.....2 meters only)........the last couple 2-meter
only UV-3 radios I remember seeing went for around $150-$225 or so (again,
in decent physical and working shape). If you try to sell them
untested/as-is, don't expect to get offers of much more than about half these
amounts. Some of the parts are getting pretty hard to find these days. A
properly working UV-3 is a great performer, even by today's standards. It ran
circles around most of its competition when it was new (almost 40 years
ago).

I have several of the UV-3 transceivers in complete but untested condition.
Three have all 3 modules and one has only 2 meters.

Anyone have an idea of current values?

Thanks all.
