I tried that with Collins and couldn't stand the constant strobe-like
flicker effect from the ac voltage powering the LED's.
If the lamps were on dc voltage....that might be ok.

To keep the main dial back plate from yellowing again, I am installing
three LED replacement lamps for all the #47 lamps (3) in the radio. The
three LED 47 replacements put out equal to #47 lamp lighting. I buy them
from pin ball parts firms for 99 cents each. They put out very little heat
and don't burn out. Of course I'm using white ones for the 2A but the three
LED BLUE ones work greak in other Drake gear using BLUE filters. With the
BLUE LED lamps I remove the BLUE filters from the radios.
