Heinz,
I might add I purchased the 2B CD from Garey Barrell, k4OAH. His CD is very helpful as it has the 2A manual in it and most of the parts are identical. He includes a 2B parts list as well as point out where every part is located. The high resolution color pictures are very useful when restoring this great receiver. The cost of the CD is $22.00.

Heinz,
I am restoring a 2A right now. You can download a manual from BAMA manuals free. In my case, I am replacing the can electrolytic plus all the other electrolytic and paper caps. I am also replacing all the out of tolerance resistors which means temporarily removing some of the small sub boards. My white dial back plate will be repainted too. I am also replicating the Drake crystal calibrator as mine has none installed within it. A friend of mine recently restored his 2A and found 17 resistors out of tolerance. You might have to replace parts in the 2AQ also. The 2A is a better AM receiver as it has a wider filter. The 2B might be better on SSB as it's filter is narrower. I wanted a 2A as I have a 2B and also wanted the wider filter for AM use.

Heinz,
Go to: http://2bradioparts.com
They sell small HC-49 crystals which can be retrofitted to HC-6 basis. Their crystals are on the correct frequencies and are not expensive. Otherwise, here in the states, ICM makes great HC-6 crystals and have Drake specs. (You need a 11, 18, and 25 Mhz crystal.)

Hello,
my newest eBay acquisition a Drake 2B turned out to be a Drake 2A and
the speaker that came with it was a 2AQ, that's the good news.
The bad news only one band xtal is present and it seems to be the wrong
frequency. What I have is a 10.8775 MHz xtal in the 40m position.
Somehow the XX.8775 reminds me of a Collins xtal for the S-line.
Which xtals were supplied with the Drake 2A?
