[Drake] Contest QRM

I seldom chime in on threads like this but I have to make a comment. Many years ago a former owner of one of my Cosmophone 35's won a significant contest using the Cosmophone. This was before any other equipment had dual VFO's, which the 35 has. People were baffled how he could receive on one frequency, talk on another and then switch, almost instantaneously, to another totally different set of frequencies. Of course he was not using the 35 barefoot but, rather, with single band 4-1000 amplifiers.

Paul,
Sorry about addressing you as Dave. I was burnt, but I'm sure you've been called worse. I think contesting with the "right" classic gear can be very competitive. I wouldn't do it with a HW-101 or a Swan 350, but with a properly functioning C line and a couple of additions, most certainly.
I'd never go back to paper logs and dupe sheets either (I'm not a Luddite). That was the most difficult component of contesting. It tested your secretarial skills as much as your operating skills. I'm using mac OSX and Aether for logging. Very satisfied.
