Bob,
There are a few sources out there for meter repair. I personally have not
used one, but you may want to call one or more of them to see what they can
do for you.
Here's a link to good info for Drake parts and resources:
http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakePageHome.htm
To get to the right link, go to the bottom of the page and click on "Drake
parts, materials and resources". That then opens a pdf document. Go to
page 11 for meter information.
The best thing would be to buy another w-4 and salvage the meter. Quite
often we see them on ebay and hamfests where the case is buggered up or
glass is scratched or broken, but the meter is good. That?s the one you
want.
I too have a nice one, but I converted it to peak reading some years back.
Still works great.
Good luck,
Dave

Sir, Got your name from the RL Drake web site. I dropped my beloved W-4
wattmeter. It looks to be perfect except for the needle in the meter itself
lying horizontally in the bottom of the meter face. The meter movement is
toast and I am having a terrible time finding a replacement. Can you help
or advise a source of the replacement meter or even the meter movement? I
don?t need the whole W4 or the case, just the meter. The ideal solution
would be a W4 hit by lightening with the logic board destroyed but the meter
intact.

I have located the R-4 I've been looking for but the seller
wants to sell his T4X and MN-4 (and possibly an AC-4)
as a package.
Even though the T4X looks pristine (beautiful copper) I
really only need the R-4.
Anyone been looking for a nice T4X?
I can forward the pics he sent to serious inquiries.
He's asking $175 for the T4X.
He's also asking $55. for the MN-4, which isn't quite
as pristine as the T4X, the case looks to need a good
buffing and perhaps an overspray finish.
WDYT?
