Chuck -
I was waiting for one of our TR-7 experts to reply, and then I realized what list this is. It's
essentially DEAD, perhaps a dozen posts/ month.
You'd have much better response from these.
DrakeRadio at yahoo.com (100 - 200 posts/month)
Drakelist at zerobeat.net (100 - 200 posts/month)
In the older 4 Line transmitters, in order to generate REAL CW instead of merely inserting an audio
tone into an SSB transmitter, the Balanced Modulator is unbalanced and the Carrier Oscillator is
shifted ~800 Hz to move it to within the passband of the LSB filter.
The TR-7 does something similar, and shifts the Carrier about 800 Hz by selecting another crystal
oscillator. This offsetting is also sold as a way for two transceivers to communicate without RIT,
and precludes retuning after each transmission, and 'chasing each other up (or down) the band'.
What is the alignment question you have?
