Bill -

Do you mean a T-4XB or are you referring to the TR-4CW or are you referring to the TR-4'B' which are
what some call the TR-4 versions 5-8 that have the 'B' cosmetics??

If you want to operated primarily CW, you will be much happier with the twins, R-4B / T-4XB, or R-4C
/ T-4XC.

The TR-4 was designed as a mobile SSB transceiver, with CW included because Drake supported CW. All
the TR-4 transceivers are great SSB radios in one relatively small package. Those who actually
'operated' CW with it soon demanded a narrower filter for CW operation, which was the TR-4CW. It
didn't take long to realize that a narrow filter was a waste of time if you didn't have RIT to be
able to get the other station into the narrower passband, resulting in the TR-4Cw/RIT. Even after
all this, the TR-4(any) is a great SSB transceiver with mediocre CW capabilities.!

You might have better luck finding good used equipment without eBay expenses by posting on the more
active Drake lists.
