Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions relative to my
recently acquired T-4XC. I fixed the intermittent problem on 20 meters.
The last stack of trimmers (toward the back of the chassis) was
intermittent. Using small amounts of De-Oxit did not do it as far as the
bandswitch wafers are concerned. I had to reheat the solder joints on
the trimmer stack and that did it! Evidently many adjustments had made
one or more of the solder joints intermittent.
Also, untightening and retightenting all of the trimmer stack screws did
not do it either. I found the right stack by tapping around with an
insulated adjustment tool.
I had already mentioned that the failure of the relative power meter was
due to an open solder trace at the TR relay. No RF was being fed to the
relative power circuit.
I did add a 2-1/2" 12VDC muffin fan to keep the finals cooler. I use
rectified filament voltage.
