That's right Gary.....in fact, I changed all my D-104's to be 'hot' all the
time to avoid the audible 'pop' on the audio when the ptt is keyed.
Of course, the ptt wiring is unchanged.

I think that switch changes the internal wiring of the microphone.
The original D-104 had a set of contacts that shorted the mic cartridge
when the PTT lever was "out". This meant you had to lock the PTT lever
"in" to use it for VOX. Not sure of the wiring involved, but I believe
what the switch does is remove the short across the mic with the lever
"out" to enable VOX with the PTT lever "out". Sheesh that's
complicated!! :-)
Maybe it stands for "Regular" and "Electronic" switching? :-)
