You can play with the 3 additional filter positions as they are only 
used in the receive mode.  The transmit mode uses the first filter 
position to get the 2.3 KHz BW for SSB and the one sided AM.transmit mode.

Here would be an interesting experiment:  Put a 8 KHz AM filter in the 
first position, align the TR-7 to center the carrier in the passband and 
see if it would be true AM with 4 KHz audio.  Hmmmm, where is my wide 
filter?

Experiment no. 2:  With a couple of additional steering diodes in the 
filter selection switch circuit the +10T line could be made to use the 
same filter as receive.   Where is my soldering iron?
