Another thing you can do which will give you a notch filter as well as
a noise blanker is to download one of the many DSP programs available
on the net. These audio DSP's are not as good as a DSP that operates
at the IF stage but they do work a whole lot better then the what the
Drakes came with originally. This has the advantage of not requiring
you to dig into your radio just feed the audio output of the receiver
into you computer through it's sound card. You get a graphical
representation of the signal and can tweak in in various ways to
improve the intelligibility of it.
