[Drake] Parting out super nice TR-7.

As noted, your decision. I think value could be determined by how they
list on eBay. So I would imagine your concept of 'value' is
markedly higher than that. As a whole and operating radio would you be
able to sell it for $3,000 or even $2,000? Probably not, not
even on eBay, not unless it included a whole bunch of extras, power
supplies, and other goodies. .
So maybe your idea of what it's value 'should' be is several times what
it's value actually would be determined by market?
And most likely, if you are able to part it out and sell all the
parts, you will get a few more bucks, maybe even a couple of
hundred more bucks, from the parts sales than you would from the whole
radio sale. That may, though, depend upon there
being an immediate market for every part, or it may take you months to
get your desired value from the radio. It will definitely
depend upon how many TR7s are out there needing parts. May not be that
many. A chance you will take.
People do that with cars, too! Even motorcles. Kinda rare to see a
"good running, cosmetically good" car or bike, though,
sold for parts. But not unheard of. Just rare.
Whether you can sell it in parts format to get the value you expect from
it will be something only you will be able
to judge. And only after you have sold sizable chunks of it, which will
be long after it is too late to change your mind!
Frankly, I wish you luck! I don't need the radio, OR the parts, so it
is definitely entirely up to you! But as the mail suggests,
it is something that puzzles a lot of people. It is also none of their
(or my) business, which is why I wish you well in this.
While others cry in their beer, you will be raking in a few hundred
bucks on the sale of parts. They won't!
