Steve -

What you are doing is paralleling a 10k resistor across the Primary of 
T4 and another across the inductor of T3 to broaden their response while 
tuning.  The one across T4 is the one to ground, and the one across T3 
is to B+.

The Rotor contacts are the ones with the little airwound coil connected 
between them.  You can connect to either end of the small coil.  Try not 
to disturb those coils when making your attachment.

Personally, in my experience, unless someone has been "fixing" the 
receiver, there is very little likelihood that either adjustment will be 
needed.   Also, if they are indeed "close" to being correct, you can 
carefully adjust them without the resistors.   The resistors are just to 
lower the "Q" of the inductors to make the peak easier to find if it's 
way off.
