Are you converting the 2B to become a SSB adapter for a rig such as an R390A?
I have an R390A and which I have hooked to ELDICO SBA-1 ssb adapter
the combination works very well, The ELDICO along with a 4 watt audio
amp supplies a product detector (PD), and a notch filter which the
R390A does not have. If I read this right the conversation is a fine
tuner for such signals. I am not familiar with the Drake 2B, does it
have a PD? If so this would be very useful thing, but if it doesn't
it does not address the fundamental problem of a receiver that does
not have a PD, and the resulting hassle of trying to ride herd on
your BFO to tune in SSB signals in a round table who's participants
have various signal strengths would not entirely go away. But because
the conversion of the 2B seems to be easy and reversible give it a
try. If it works out please report your results on the R390 reflector
we R390 pilots are always looking for a way to improve this rigs SSB
reception adapters such as my SBA-1 are getting very hard to find.
As for getting through to Radioworks wait till after the holidays you
should have better luck then.
