This transistor is in the transmit inhibit line and I cannot remember it's
designator either.
All your doing is simply opening up the transmit inhibit line so it cannot
go active. Works
great.

Looking at the TR-7 from the front, the transistor is in the upper left
corner of the DR-7 board. I 'm at work now, so I don't have the reference
designator. All you have to do is disconnect the base of this transistor to
get GenCov Tx above 5 MHz. I did this exact mod years ago to get WARC
coverage on my TR-7.

There's also a less damaging way of getting general
coverage that doesn't require cutting the board trace.
It involves removing a transistor (I've forgotten
offhand which one), nothing more. That's how I did
mine, worx fine and completely reversible. In no event
to you need the AUX-7 to get GenCov. The AUX-7 did
however, limit additional coverage to specific
portions of the spectrum, unlike the board trace cut
and transistor removal, both of which open the thing
up to xmit and rcv anywhere from 1.8 - 30 MHz.
