I'll write Mike Bryce an e-mail and see if he will reconsider the L4/L7 new
power supply board project. If we can stir up some demand for this fine
board,
maybe we can get a promise from Mike to supply us a group buy for 100 units
or so. I'll ask him to tell us how many orders he really needs to do the
project and what would be our cost. I'll ask him to post his thoughts on
the reflector. Maybe he could stuff a few boards for those not wanting to
do this themselves no matter how easy it is to do. (The parts are fairly
large so building up the board would be a snap).

I don't want to be the middle man on this. My only interest is getting the
board available to us.

When I built up the board for my AC-4 (AC-4R board) it took less then 1/2
hour to build it. It was easy. Installing it was easy too and putting the
L4/L7 board into
an amp power supply would even be easier. I think it would take less then
an hour to install the board into an amp. It looks like building up this
board would be easier then building up an AC-4R board too.
The AC-4R board only had 21 parts on it. (7 caps, 7 diodes, and 7
resistors). This replaced almost everything in the AC-4 power supply less
the bias pot, case, transformer, fuse, and line cord. I bought my own
parts from Mouser for the AC-4R board. (I ordered the parts on the phone
and had them the next day).

I sure hope others see the real value in obtaining the L4/L7 board from The
Heathkit Shop. It will help insure trouble free operation of our amps for
many years and get rid of the potentially most likely parts to fail in our
amps. (Old caps, marginal old resistors and marginal old diodes.)

I know of three guys doing boards for Collins 30L1 Amps and they are all
working out great for this amp. I bought two boards for two of my 30L1s
from Bill Noonan, W6WJN and they are working out beautifully too.
