[Drake] China made tubes

Just make sure that your rig was designed for the
6146B / 8298A series and not the 6146, 6146A, or 8298
tubes.

For the article on the 6146 family of tubes that was
published in Electric Radio a while back, and which
has been reprinted in several other publications, go
to either of the websites that are listed at the end
of this message.

Most transmitters that were designed for the earlier
series are not very "happy" with the 6146B series.
The 6146B is really a different tube from the earlier
versions. RCA originally said that the 6146B was
completely compatible with the earlier versions then
had to retract that statement. There are exceptions
with individual transmitters and the 6146B functions
fine. But, I have seen like 3 exact models of the
same transmitter, with serial numbers less than 10
apart, that the 6146B worked fine in 1 but not in the
other 2.

I won't go into all of the possible problems that can
happen if you use the 6146B / 8298A tubes in rigs
designed for the earlier tubes since that would
definitely exceed the line limit of this reflector.
But, all of the problems are described in the
articles.

Found a site with new, right of the line, China made
6146b tubes....at about half the cost I have found elsewhere.
