[Drake] Problem with R-4B

I have recently acquired an R-4B/T-4XB combo.  I
hooked them up and tried the R-4B the other day.  It
received LSB signal fine on 80M and I was able to
receive an AM station on 40M.  However, when I go to
20M, although I can hear activity, the passband
adjustment will not allow me to make the signals
intelligible.  Anyone have any ideas where to start? 
I am far from being an expert with these types of
radios.
