Hi John,

Just a hint; if you have a fan running unnecessarly fast and noisy a
cheap remedy is to put a "motor capacitor" in series with the feed.

I have been using this method for years on a wide centrifugal blower
behind my operating desk.

You may have to experiment with the value that gives you the correct
speed on the fan but start with 1 µF and go up / down in 0.5 µF steps.
