Paul,
Why don't you use the R4B as a signal tracer?  Basically take the antenna 
input and use a INSULATED piece of wire on the end of a coax to follow the 
signal inside the T4XB.  Since you know that you have signal and can peak 
it you can us the RX to follow it.  I use this technique often.  It was 
with this technique that I found a broken mica on a cap on the "rack".
