[Drake] T-4XB Crystal

20.000 MHz crystals are available from Mouser (and
other sources). These are in the HC18/U package
(small with wire leads) but cost between 50 and 80
cents apiece!

They usually come in both series and capacitive load
(some in 20 pf and a very few in 32 pf).

All you have to do is to either "loop" the wire leads
and plug them in or else use the base from an old
HC6/U crystal and solder the leads to it.

These crystals are used in microprocessors and are
made in the millions. That is why they are so cheap!

I buy various cyrstals to use in VHF converters, etc.
in batches of 5 or 10. Frankly, both the series and
capacitive load crystals come out very close to the
desired frequency when used with tubes. Of course
they are even closer when used with solid-state. But,
they are as close and usually closer to the desired
frequency than the original HC6/U crystals used by the
manufacturer.

I need a crystal for my Drake B twins. I need a
20.mhz. rock for the operating frequency of 10.0 to
10.2 mhz. Anyone have an extra one that they can part
with?
