I asked on QRZ.com where you originally posted your
request if your zeroing problem is mechanical, that is
when the unit is turned off, or does it happen when
the unit is on.
If if happens when the unit is on, then the problem is
not with your meter. Replacing the meter will not
solve your problem under these circumstances.
If the meter zero moves around when the unit is off,
there is a possibility that the calibration pin has
gotten moved outside of the bracket that is controlled
by the "screw" on the face of the meter. This can be
checked by removing the meter from the linear, then
removing the screws that hold the meter into the case
(if the front cover of the meter is not removeable as
they are in many meters). Pull the meter movement
either from the housing or else, if the front comes
off, pull that off. Check the pins that come off of
the calibration screw on the front of the meter and
make sure that the calibration pin on the meter
movement is between these two pins when you reassemble
the meter.
If the meter zero moves around when the unit is on,
there is something in the electrical circuitry that is
causing this and it is not the fault of the meter
movement. Most probably, if this is the case, one, or
more, of your final tubes has a problem.
