[Drake] TR-7 Receive Audio Issue

Hi All:

I have an issue dealing with the receive audio level on my recently-acquired
TR-7.  The audio gain control doesn't fully mute the audio when turned fully
CCW; in fact, when the audio gain control is turned as low as it will go
there's enough audio coming through the speaker that I can easily hear it,
and there's just too much audio for comfortable use when using headphones.
I wouldn't think this is characteristic of TR-7s, but since this is my first
one I wouldn't know.  I guess the gain control could be defective, but it
works very smoothly and quietly throughout its range, and I've never seen
one go bad in that way.  I'm looking for tips before I dig in.  I would
appreciate any tips.
