Lee.... I agree with you totally.
I gotta say, as much as I hate those little RCA phono plugs for antenna
jacks on Heath and Collins stuff, I'd never even buy one of them if someone
changed it out to an SO239!!
Actually, I think I remember reading that the RCA phono plugs work BETTER
than UHF connectors for RF...the ones with the long tips like Collins used.
As far as the Drake rigs....If I wanted it to do this better, and that
better, perhaps solid state a few things, replace the front panel drilled
out for all the knob shafts of a 1000D, and replace all the components with
the interior of a 1000D....NOW, you made lots of improvements!!  (Although
some may argue!!)
No, I don't want someone else's brilliant ideas. My R4C is stock, and works
great. I don't notice any AGC flaws, or buzzing distorted audio, or
overheating stuff...it just works as Drake intended.
