Hi Jim, et al:

>Here are a few more:

For reference: I was asking for price quotes on a 3' x 4' piece of 22-gauge
(paintable) carbon steel, perforated with 1/8" holes on a 3/16" staggered
pattern.

This company asked $96 (less shipping) for a 4' x 3' sheet, and $95 for
a 4' x 8' sheet..! The price differential being that they'd have to cut
the sheet in two (unspecified cutting charge) for shipping.

This company MAKES perforated sheet metals for other vendors. They do not
stock. If they made a custom sheet for me, just the machine set-up would
run $300, before anything else was made.

This company asked about $60 for a 3' x 8' (smallest quantity) sheet, cut
in half ($15 add'l charge) so it could be shipped UPS, and about $15
shipping. Total: c. $90

This company asked 4' x 10' = $61.20 not including about $20 shipping.
They say they THINK they cold roll it up and put it in a shipping tube, if
not, it might have to be cut (unknown cutting charge) and shipped flat. I
was concerned about the metal takiung a 'set' of rolled, but the rep said
that given the gauge (#22), he doubted it'd be much of a problem.

So... McMaster-Carr (previously referenced) still looks pretty good at this
point (c. $27 for a 36" x 40" sheet, less shipping). I guess, if there were
enough folks interested, someone (not necessarily me though) could order a
large sheet, cut it into smaller chunks (enough for 2-3 failed attempts and
ONE good one), and then parse it out to buyers.

Thanks Jim.
