Steve

I believe the mic you are describing is an EV 729SR. The specs are:

Type: Ceramic
Frequency Response: 60 -8000 cps
Impedance: Hi-Z
Output Level: -55db
Polar Pattern: Cardioid
Case Material: Pressure diecast zinc front and plastic back
Finish: Metaluster gray front and medium gray back
On-Off Switch: 729SR sliding contact short circuits microphone in off position
Temperature: May be used in any climate. Will withstand 200 degree F

Drake modified the switch wiring for VOX or PTT use so that the mic
element did not short in the off position but the PTT contacts still worked
and sold it as the 729SRD. If yours came from Drake it will have the
'D' embossed at the end of the model number. Any 729SR can be
easily modified to this configuration.

It is a ruggel little microphone designed for communication use. It won't
give you hi-fi audio but then, neither will your B-Line. You can make sure
this is the model by checking this page at the Drake Museum

Hope this helps.
