Hi folks,
I bought 2 from Marty. They are untested and have lots of "experience."
He's going to send me a meter for the one I kept, so he does back them up.
I've spent several days on the one I kept (the worser of the 2, a friend has
the other). It also has the 10-30kc (lowest band) coil open, just
determined that a few hrs ago. A replacement program for the 9 paper caps
in it is a good idea for any of them. After doing that, my audio oscillator
came to life. The attenuator needed mechanical attn, some of the resistors
in it had been changed, all were within 2-3%, so I didn't change any, it
works properly now. There was no output at the 200x jack. The 1mc xtal
osc. still doesn't work, the xtal & tube are good, voltages & resistances at
the socket are OK, I haven't gone farther.
After a bit of work I have a usable URM-25D. Only the xtal osc. & band
1 aren't right. Calibration was pretty good, I haven't tweaked that.
I'm happy with my purchase, and with Marty. My friend has just gotten
started in his, I don't think it has too many problems.
