Tony -

That is a fairly late "A".   If your schematic is not quite right,
particularly in the AF stages, you might want to look at the 10 tube version
of the "B".   They ran only from s/n 7000 to 8000.  The 8000+  had 9 tubes.

By the way, the "B" on the end of the serial number indicates a Blue BFO
crystal.  While you have it open you might want to verify that the crystal
does indeed have a blue paint stripe on it.    This is of no importance
unless you want to transceive with a T-4XB.  The Carrier Oscillator crystal
in the T-4XB transmitters is not phase locked to the receiver's BFO crystal
as it is in the "C" line, but just relies on the relative stability of the
two crystals.  There is an adjustment in the receiver to compensate, but if
the transmitter crystal isn't "blue" also, they can easily vary 50 - 100 Hz
with time and temperature.  Not a problem on CW, but definitely noticeable
on SSB.
