I have a question concerning the TR-7 Translator Board configuration. I am
currently doing some troubleshooting on one of my TR-7's and the problem is
on the Translator Board. The curious thing about this board is that it has
an extensive shield enclosure on the component side of the board. I have
two original Drake TR-7 service manuals and neither shows this shield
existing on this board. I am suspecting that someone has added this shield
and that is what may be causing my problem since it looks like one of the
TTL chips is failing after being on some time due to heat build-up inside
the shielded enclosure.
Has anyone seen a Translator Board with a shield enclosure on it? Is it a
factory part? The one on this board does not look to be professionally
manufactured.
I could compare this unit with my other TR-7 but, I would have to pull it
out of a console to get at the top cover, etc. etc. Hopefully, a few
replys here on the reflector will ease my suspicions.
I would appreciate any feedback on this one.
