I would like to thank everyone on the list that responded to my original
post below. My problem turned out to be a dirty contact on the
transmitter's crystal selection switch. All seems fine now!

I've been using a R-4A and T-4XC from my collection of Drake gear over the
past several weeks. All has been well until a few days ago.
While operating using the transmitter as the controlling device in
transceive mode, I noticed my output power dropping as I was operating.
Within a few seconds, the output drops to 0. If I switch to separate mode,
or use the receiver as the controlling device in transceive mode, I obtain
full output again. If I switch back to using the transmitter, the output
disappears. The problem is intermittent. It doesn't happen every time I
use this set, nor does it happen at a particular time after power-up.
I operate CW and haven't bothered to see if the problem appears in other
modes. I don't think the mode is related to the problem.
Since switching to spot or receiver transceive seems to cure the problem, I
am assuming the problem is in the injection circuits.
Any ideas before I take the cover off?
