[Drake] TR7 Push Button Caps

Hello,

My 'UP" TR7 front panel push button cap has broken loose from its switch.
The black cap has a part of the actuator extension (white plastic) lodged
inside of it.  I've tried to remove the broken extension bit from the cap,
but it doesn't want to cooperate.

It would seem to be a simple matter to just glue it back in place because
the remaining actuator extension still protrudes into the cap sufficient to
allow the use of glue to re-affix the cap.  My questions are:

Is this normally just a force fit or are they glued together?

Will gluing the cap back in place prevent future work which involves
removing the front panel?

Is there a better way of fixing this problem?
