The 1544 is ONLY required when using the RV-75 on the R-7 receiver or =
when
using the RV-75 as a "common VFO" to control a TR-7/R-7 pair.  You do =
NOT
need a 1544 to use a RV-75 with a TR-7.  The plug from the RV-75 plugs =
right
into the back of the TR-7.

You can build your own 1544.  The big problem is finding the Cinch-Jones
sockets and plugs to connect them together.  Look here:
