Tamiya, a hobby (model) paint company makes a semitransparent paint in blue
"X23" a couple of coats of which will impart a nice blue glow to a #47 lamp.
It doesn't burn off either. About 3 bucks a jar at hobby shops. Also
"Superbright leds.com" now sells high output blue leds in #47 bases. I have not
tried them yet but sure looks interesting. No heat either.
On an unrelated note I installed a Velleman 7 watt audio board in my R4C
and it works
great! Smaller than any other audio mod I have used. BTW Velleman also
makes
a smaller 1.5 watt board but I liked the extra power. Chu8ck
