Thanks to all who replied. One pointed out the L4B/L7 TR relay is 24 volts
though schematic shows 100V applied to relay. Some are keying the 24v relay
with solid state rigs without problems , others say NEVER do it, especially
with SB220 or 30L1 Collins. Couple said Icom TR circuit will not handle the
24 or 100v relays at all. Concensus was to use intervening 12V relay system
or a simple switching transistor. I have done this in past when there is 9V
on xmit from back of rig, using an NPN in the negative relay line. If there
is 2-4 volts on receive available I have used 2 NPN setup with Q1 non
conducting on transmit, etc. Anyway, several systems out there, some
commercial as one pointed out, having a soft keying circuit between linear
and rig. Yaesu does have some specific relays for certain rigs to key non
Yaesu linears, about $25 each. My RS 12v relay was about $6 and the Icom has
a DIN with 13.6 coming out and a pin for grounded transmit. Works fine for
me now and "no worries".. Again, thanks to the nice guys on here who
responded. San K5YY
