Hello to all,
Ever wonder when your Drake was built? I have often
wondered when a particular item might have been made whether it is
the TR-7 I brought home from Dayton or the R-4 on the back shelf.
The R. L. Drake Company did not keep their production records so
you can't ask them. But there is a way to build a Database of Dates
using the "Quality Control" tags that survive on our Drake equipment.
Ron Baker, WB4HFN has a Drake Web page that you may
already know about (http://www89405.temp.w1.com/DrakeHomePage.htm)
and has offered to host a "Drake Serial Number Database" you may
view it directly at (http://www89405.temp.w1.com/DrakeSerialDatabase.htm)
<A
HREF="http://www89405.temp.w1.com/DrakeSerialDatabase.htm">Drake Serial
Number Data Base</A>
What we need is input. If you have a Drake "QC" tag that you can
share the information from, no matter what kind of Drake it may be, it
will help in the building of the database. The tag will have the item
name, serial number and date such as this example:
4-NB Noise Blanker 2970 Nov 24, 1978
Every little bit will help. It is hoped that in time enough data will be
listed
so that you can visit the database and with the serial number of your
Drake item, compare it to the list of known dates and serial numbers and
make a good guess as to when your Drake was made.
So please dig up your QC tags or even if you have the original bill of
sale of an item that will list the date and serial number please send Ron or
myself an email with the information so that it may be added to the list.
You may reach Ron WB4HFN at ( [email protected] )
Many Thanks
