[Drake] cleaning a drake

I've only heard bad things about trying to clean Drake dials.  I would
hesitate to do it with anything that I know of.  Maybe someone else has had
better luck, but I tried years ago, when they were still available, so I was
able to replace the one I ruined, hi hi.
