I saw a post on a list serv, about AR2 communications - someone gave the =
address, and I tuned in. They make, among other things, low priced =
preamps. Since it is so common to have a preamp on modern receivers, I =
was wondering a preamp would benefit the R-4C. I know Sherwood sells a =
preamp. In any case, here is the address:

Here are the specs:

The P1-30/20VD is only $ 32.95. Any ideas? The noise figure of 2.5, is =
higher than the noise figure for the single band preamps, which run 0.5. =
I don't really know what the figure means - but if the difference is =
significant, and if a preamp would benefit the R-4C, it wouldn't be a =
big deal to buy one for say 20 meters and another for 15 meters. Any =
thoughts? Well, 9A4OM is calling CQ on 20 CW, so I'd better go. Tom =
