[Drake] Drake 2C - Main Tuning

To all - I recently purchased a Drake 2C to pair with a Drake 2NT.  The 2C
works acceptably except for one thing...the main tuning dial.  My main tuning
dial...the small shaft on the right side of the receiver...turns very
hard....not like my much more easily turned Drake 2B dial.  The 2C dial turns
OK as well as the large tuning capacitor but is not very "free"...in other
words it does need some effort to turn the dial.  I notice there is a
rectangular piece of metal on the back side of the tuning dial shaft...is this
supposed to be an adjustment?  Just curious if any others have this "issue"
with a 2C.  I have lubed it with WD40 and finally have been able to turn it
with my hand and the actual knob...before I could hardly turn it with a pair of
pliers.  Thanks for your assistance.
