I've noticed that the audio from both my R4A and R4B doesn't sound as great
as it should, and that I'm having to run the audio gain up pretty high to
get "normal" audio level.  I can't quite decide whether there's distortion
at low levels or just when I crank it up.   Haven't even checked tubes yet,
but am just curious if any list members are aware of obvious problem areas
to look at, such as cathode bypasses, AGC circuit, etc. in case I have to
dig deeper.
