There have been several posts in the past about the two pin plugs that the
Drake uses for the VOX cable. As far as I could determine they are not
available anywhere. They are a real oddball. Out of necessity I have found
an easy way to make them. Radio Shack still sells a two pin 300 ohm TV twin
lead connector. They were made for connecting twin lead to a wall socket.
The pins are the correct diameter to fit the Drake gear, but the spacing is
too wide. What I have done is cut the plastic twin lead connector in half on
a band saw (you could use a razor saw), then carefully sand equal amounts
off both half's until the pines line up with the Drake socket. Sand, test
fit, and sand a little more. When the correct pin spacing has been achieved,
I glue the two halves of the twin lead connector back together with super
glue. A perfect fit can be achieved and they work reliably.
Hope this helps, and thanks to all for the many good ideas that come from
this group!
