[Drake] R4C receiver sensitivity question

I had a similar problem with my R4C. This unit had a replacement Sherwood
filter installed in the 1st IF stage. ItThe set could best be described as
lacking gain. I returned the original filter to the set and it perked right
up.

I suspect the Sherwood center frequency is off just enough that the IF is
not tuned to the filter frequency. I measure the loss of the filter and it
was not enough to cause the loass of gain I noticed.

When I have time I am going to reinstall the Sherwood filter and play with
the IF tuing to see if I can improve the set by adjusting the IF frequency
enough to be better within the filter passband. If the filter is off
frequency, it is not by much as I cannot see it using the test equipment
that I have (I really need a sweeper).
