Hello!

Well, after lots of time being 'Drake-less' (at least regarding new Drake
projects), yesterday I got a very nice package, consisting of:

*TR-4Cw RIT (S/N 45445) with 34-PNB
*RV-4C
*MS-4
*AC-4
*Original manual for the TR-4Cw RIT (it has a picture of TR-4Cw RIT in the
cover and then extra pages devoted to RIT and others devoted to the CW
filter; rest is just a late TR-4C manual), along warranty docs (unfilled),
unused yellow cable labels, 34-NB manual, QC tags, etc
*Original boxes for the TR-4Cw RIT, RV-4C and AC-4

Units are in very good shape (i.e. no scratches!) and had been in storage
for 15 years. Only trouble is that previous owner smoked so all have the
usual brown color (although, upon carefully cleaning, first unit I have
worked on, RV-4C, shines like new :-)! ). Also, being so many years in
storage has reduced the smoke odor a lot.

I got this set thanks to a ham friend, who found it and, as he was not
willing to repair it, he offered the units to me. I paid the princely sum
of about US$255 :-) :-). Not a bad price, judging by last prices I had seen!

I have not yet had the time to check the unit (I preferred to clean the
external VFO to see how much could the set be improved; and it really
did!), but it seems failure is a large (50dB) attenuation in all bands and
a fixed frequency displacement (about 280kHz, I was told)

Anyway, I think I have made a very good buying and I am gratefully to my
friend, who found, picked up, packed and sent it.

I have taken lots of pictures of the units as they were received and also
in the cleaning / dismantling procedure and will put a new page in my WEB,
devoted to the TR-4Cw RIT line soon.

Regards from a really happy camper ;-)!
