[Drake] L-4 Help

I was checking out a problem on my old L-4 this morning and discovered that 
the plate choke (RFC-4) has two broken pieces on it.  The top and bottom of 
the choke have what appear to be silver plated "C" rings that are connecting 
the upper and lower coil turns.  Both of the rings in my amp are broken.  One 
is cracked and could be soldered the other one is broken and one chunk is 
missing.  First, are these parts anything special other than to tension the 
leads?  Second, can these parts be found anywhere today?  Third, if the parts 
are not available, super gluing the ends of the wire and connecting with Buss 
wire would restore the electrical continuity but is there something I'm 
missing here?  Fourth, I think I can also find a steel "C" ring that will fit 
the choke form circumference and try that, any thoughts?
